The Importance of Protective Factors for Fatherhood Involvement.

This is a workshop that trains staff to be aware of protective factors that impact a father's involvement in their child's life. This training is based on Best Practices aligned with Prevent Child Abuse and Healthy Families America Curriculum and Goals for Fatherhood Involvement. There are curricular examples used in the workshop that can be used within your program and agency.

There are 2 parts to the training.

Part I Awareness - This is a 1 -2 hr. presentation that educates the employees of your program of the research regarding the importance of Fatherhood Involvement. The research includes studies from the DOJ and DHS at the Federal and State Level. There is also a component from Prevent Child Abuse that is included in the awareness training. Staff will also learn how intakes are an critical element to Fatherhood participation. We will review best practices for staff that are Assessment/Intake workers in your program.

Part II Solution Focused Training - The second half of this training is focused on goal setting. An idea box is created for all staff to participate. From the idea box, goal setting will begin for positive, strength based solutions for your program. Also, the benefits of Fatherhood Groups will be a part of this training. Fatherhood Friendly Audits will also focus on cultural changes needed for your agency.

Wrap Up - Long term goal setting will be the closing. Goals will be measurable and data driven so that funders, program managers, and staff can realistically document positive changes from the training.

How To Improve Fatherhood Programing And Participation In Your Agency 4-8hr. Workshop

If you are a Director of an agency or program that is struggling with Fatherhood involvement, this is a training that focuses on solutions for your staff to move an agency forward in the right direction. The workshop will focus on cultural change, strategies, best practice, and strength based training methods.

The trainer will meet to discuss learner focused goals with the Program Director/Executive Director. Together, the trainer will ask the director for examples of critical elements that are necessary for a successful Fatherhood Program. (Pre Assessment of Programs) When applicable, curricular activities promoting Fatherhood Involvement will be a part of the training.

The training itself will be based on the needs found during the Pre Assessment meeting(s). Goals will be set for long term improvements in the program. Identifiable data will be discussed with the staff to help ensure the accuracy of targeted improvements.

6 month Follow Up: A teleconference or returning visit will complete a post assessment of services. Did the program meet key indicators. Where did an agency improve along with where did it struggle.
