The Importance of Protective Factors for Fatherhood Involvement.

This is a workshop that trains staff to be aware of protective factors that impact a father's involvement in their child's life. This training is based on Best Practices aligned with Prevent Child Abuse and Healthy Families America Curriculum and Goals for Fatherhood Involvement. There are curricular examples used in the workshop that can be used within your program and agency.

There are 2 parts to the training.

Part I Awareness - This is a 1 -2 hr. presentation that educates the employees of your program of the research regarding the importance of Fatherhood Involvement. The research includes studies from the DOJ and DHS at the Federal and State Level. There is also a component from Prevent Child Abuse that is included in the awareness training. Staff will also learn how intakes are an critical element to Fatherhood participation. We will review best practices for staff that are Assessment/Intake workers in your program.

Part II Solution Focused Training - The second half of this training is focused on goal setting. An idea box is created for all staff to participate. From the idea box, goal setting will begin for positive, strength based solutions for your program. Also, the benefits of Fatherhood Groups will be a part of this training. Fatherhood Friendly Audits will also focus on cultural changes needed for your agency.

Wrap Up - Long term goal setting will be the closing. Goals will be measurable and data driven so that funders, program managers, and staff can realistically document positive changes from the training.
